Official sources
This template is especially useful for:
- Official game websites
- Developer websites
- Publisher websites
- Press releases
- Development blogs
- Official support articles
- Promotional websites
- Official character or game pages
- Official social-media posts that are preserved on the web
Whenever possible, use the original source rather than a later summary.
Archived webpages
Older Arkham websites and promotional pages may no longer exist.
If an archived copy is available, include both the original URL and the archive:
<ref>{{Cite web
| title = Original Arkham promotional page
| website = Official Batman: Arkham website
| date = 2011
| url = https://original.example/page
| archive-url = https://web.archive.org/example
| access-date = September 20, 2026
}}</ref>
Do not remove the original URL simply because it is dead.
The original address helps identify where the material was first published.
Missing dates
If no publication date is available, leave date blank.
Do not invent a date based on assumptions.
Use an access date when appropriate.
Authors and organizations
If an individual author is known:
| author = Jane Doe
If no individual author is listed but the page was published directly by a studio:
| author = Rocksteady Studios
If neither is known, omit the parameter.
Citation quality
Avoid:
<ref>Rocksteady website</ref>
Prefer:
<ref>{{Cite web
| author = Rocksteady Studios
| title = Article title
| website = Rocksteady Studios
| date = 2015
| url = https://example.com/article
}}</ref>
Fan websites
The existence of this template does not make every webpage a reliable source.
Fan wikis, forum posts, Reddit threads, unsourced databases, and similar pages should generally not be used as final evidence for factual claims.
See Arkham Wiki:Sourcing policy.
